Gap risk

The risk of price opening far from the previous close — weekends and session opens — jumping over stops entirely.

Gaps skip limit and stop levels: a weekend gap can open beyond your stop, filling at the first available price. That's the actuarial reason behind Friday-close rules.

Where weekend holding is allowed, size positions so a multiple-ATR gap stays inside the max drawdown.
